Fiber for a Fit and Healthy You

Did you know that eating bread can help in the prevention of serious illnesses?  When this question was asked as part of a survey made to 2000 Americans, only 12% agreed.  Only 9% of those who agreed were women.  

Due to the popularity of certain diets such as Atkins and South Beach, many Americans live today under the impression that carbs are bad for our health, even though it is such a prominent part of the food pyramid.  

The same study also found that 50% of Americans eat bread almost every day, but only 20% does because it gives them more energy, while twice that many consume bread because they love its aroma. (www.smartbread.com)

Because of this disturbing findings, the United States Health Department has issued the following statement on its website:

“Foods that contain carbohydrates are an essential part of a healthy diet.  In addition to eating foods that are high in fiber, it is also important to eat fruits, vegetables and low fat dairy products.”
